It’s a little change of pace this month. We’re reviewing the 1985 war film Come and See. This film was a tough watch for some and repeat watch for others. In this episode, Chris explains why he’s been waiting for the podcast’s return to review this popular anti-war favorite from some of the world’s most celebrated directors like Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola. Later, we ask how much of the film is really happening, or whether some of the images in this film are all in the protagonist’s head. While we all had varying opinions on the film, one thing was for certain, Aleksei Rodionov’s cinematography is a sight to behold and it effectiveness should be a mandatory discussion in film schools. Finally, we discuss the artistic choices director Elem Klimov made to drive home the message of his most celebrated and final film.
