This week, we’re spending a little time with the family when we review the 1975 cult documentary, Grey Gardens. In the history of Cult Film in Review, we’ve only reviewed one other documentary, American Movie. In this episode, the guys discuss the similarities between one of our most highly rated cults films and this 70s classic. Unlike American Movie, the Crew isn’t all in agreement with this one. Later, Kyle gives some background on the history of Big and Little Edie, as well as what happened to them after the cameras stopped rolling. And what is the status of Grey Gardens nowadays? Is it still falling apart or was it restored to its former glory? Finally, the guys discuss whether people of privilege are also capable of becoming victims of circumstance and, if so, whether they can ever escape.
