There’s a world that exists right in your backyard. Beneath the bushes and the rocks. Where the creatures scurry. And Cult Film in Review is about to take a trip outdoors with our review of The Secret of NIMH. In this episode, we talk about our favorite Don Bluth classics. Where does this one rate for the crew? We also touch on how kids films have changed from the 80s to the 90s. What were they trying to teach Gen Xers about love, loss, and heartache? Later, the guys discuss whether it’s a good idea to expose children to depressing storylines. Will it affect them in the future? And if so, how did Mike turn out? Finally, we ask what rats and mice need clothes for? What are they trying to hide down there?

Not quite sure if Watership Down is considered a cult film but I feel like it might be an interesting one for you guys to look into. Loads of gory on-screen animated rabbit deaths that the BBC puts on around Easter every year (it’s an animated film with cute bunnies so the kids are bound to love it).
All my British friends grew up with it, but it was a very bizarre watch for me as a non-UK native who didn’t get to be traumatised by it as a kid. I don’t imagine any of you would have seen it growing up either it would be super interesting to hear your thoughts!
We’ve thrown around review Watership a few times. We’re sure it’s a film we’ll do an episode on in the future. Thanks for commenting!
