Sony Looks to Director of ‘Honeymoon’ to Direct ‘The Craft’ Remake
In a move that’s probably not surprising to anyone who hasn’t been in solitary confinement for the last decade, Hollywood is bringing us another remake, this time in the form of the 90’s cult film The Craft.
The film will be directed by relative newcomer Leigh Janiak who made her directorial debut last year with the horror film Honeymoon and plans to direct an episode of MTV’s TV remake of Scream. The film will be produced by Sony which, let’s be honest, has proven to be rather hit and miss in the cult remake department.
So much of the appeal of The Craft was a result of massive amounts of typical 90’s teen angst, expertly performed by super-angsty Neve Campbell and bat-shit-crazy-angsty Fairuza Balk. It’ll be interesting to see if the remake can still bring the goods in our social media obsessed, post dial-up world.
