Variety is reporting that UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is currently meeting with screenwriters to star in the reboot of the 1989 cult classic, Road House. Production is set for 2016.
It’s reported that Rousey was originally hesitant to join the project out of respect for the late, great Patrick Swayze who originally played the lead role of Dalton, the no nonsense dive bar bouncer with a hatred for Adam’s Apples. Rousey contacted Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, to get the ok before taking the role, which she was happy to give.
Rousey has been really hitting the Hollywood trail as of late with roles in such fare as Furious 7, Expendables 3 and Entourage. She also has other projects on the horizon such as the Peter Berg directed Mile 22 which is currently in pre-production, with shooting to start after her Nov. 14 fight with Holly Holm.
Rousey has surely proven her skill in the octagon and has an arm bar that could subdue a grizzly bear. Let’s hope that her throat ripping skills are also up to par.
