‘The Crow’ Reboot Looking to Resurrect Role with New Lead Actor

People over at production company, Relativity, are in search of a new lead actor for their Crow remake after Boardwalk Empire’s Jack Huston had to drop out due to scheduling difficulties.

Huston is one of many that have been attached to the iconic role originally played by the late Brandon Lee. Luke Evans (Fast and Furious 6) was also set to play the goth anti-hero but was forced to back out due to similar scheduling issues.

According to Variety, Relativity is looking at either Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) or Jack O’Connell (Skins, 300: Rise of an Empire) to take the open slot.

These casting choices only add to the virtual revolving door of cast and crew that have entered and exited since the film’s announcement. The film also was originally supposed to be directed by relative Hollywood newcomer, F. Javier Gutiérrez, only to be replaced by an equally relatively newcomey, Corin Hardy.

To be fair, this is not the first time Hollywood has tried to cash in on the success of the 90’s cult film. The Crow has spawned three sequels that were pretty much panned by critics as well as a TV series that lasted only one season, so to say that expectations are high would be quite the overstatement. Still, fans of the comic might be happy to hear that The Crow graphic novel creator, James O’Barr, has said that the remake will much closer to the original source material.
