Starz has graced us with the first trailer for Ash vs. Evil Dead and fans of the franchise will probably be hard pressed to find it wanting.
Chainsaw? Check. Boomstick? Check. Raimi alumni? Double Check.
That’s right. Ash vs. Evil Dead not only reunites us with our favorite killer of the dead, Bruce Campbell, but another all around ass kicker, the Warrior Princess herself, Lucy Lawless.
From what we can gather from the trailer, the Evil Dead have somehow managed to find a way to walk the earth again and it’s up to Ash to strap on his girdle and let his shotgun do the talking.
You read that right. Ash vs. Evil Dead makes no attempt to pretend like this wasn’t a sequel twenty-three years in the making. We find an aging and out of shape Ash hitting the lawn and gardening section to take up arms against his old nemeses in hopes to save humanity from the undead.
Ash also seems to be taking on the role of mentor in this series. Moving on from his days at S-Mart, Ash has taken his fellow co-workers under his wing at his new place of employment, ValueStop, and appears to be training them in the long lost art of Deadite killing or re-killing to be exact.
The series also seems to be following in the vein of the franchise’s most resent outing, Army of Darkness, by guaranteeing plenty of laughs along with the countless puddles of blood sure to follow.
Ash vs. Evil Dead will be fittingly dropping on October 31st on Starz.
Looks like I’ll have shut off my porch light and cancel my trick or treating plans.
